ROCKFORD — Rockford area “celebrities” showed off their dance moves Saturday while raising money for a great cause.

The 14th annual Dancing with the Rockford Stars, which had a 1920s theme, was held at Tebala Event Center, 7910 Newburg Road. The event is Family Counseling Services’ largest fundraiser of the year.

Family Counseling Services provides professional counseling for those who might be struggling with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or any other challenges an individual might be trying to overcome.

This event raises money to not only help make a difference in an individual’s life but also in the community by offering mental health services.

The local “celebrity” dancers competed for the coveted Mirrored Ball trophies that were awarded to the winners of the Judge’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. Every dollar that was donated equaled to one vote and all of those funds went toward Family Counseling Services.

The Judge’s Choice Award winners were Gina DelRose and Daniel Arevalo, trained by Evolve Dance Co., and the Mirrored Ball trophy for the People’s Choice went to Mike and Nicole Morig, who trained with Beauty in Motion Dance Arts.
