ROCKFORD — A downtown luxury beauty and cosmetics boutique abruptly closed its store this week.

Arch Apothecary, 214 E. State St., also closed its locations in Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee. Customers received messages Monday saying “all Arch locations are permanently closed effective today.” Employees of the shop were also notified that day.

Attempts to reach company representatives through phone calls and emails have not been successful. We’ll update this story if we hear back from them.

Arch Apothecary opened more than a decade ago on Spring Creek Road before moving downtown to the former Rockford Furniture Mart near State and Madison streets in late 2016, according to Rockford Register Star archives.

The boutique offered a variety of services from licensed aestheticians and certified cosmetologists, and it specialized in helping brides and bridesmaids prepare for a wedding.
