If you’ve been driving around the Rockford area, you probably have seen some cars all decked out in Christmas lights, tinsel, candy canes, and ornaments. One Wisconsin resident went all out wrapping his entire car in the brightly colored lights to spread Christmas cheer and got pulled over for it.

The photo of the car was posted on Facebook by the Trooper. While the trooper did give the teenage driver credit for his creativity, she also had to break the news that it’s not legal to operate the car on the road according to the post. Tyler Kamholz, 18, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, got the idea from watching a YouTube video years ago and only spent about $30 for all the lights.

Drivers can only have white or amber colored lights on the front of a vehicle, according to Wisconsin state law. The only color allowed is red, and that’s on the rear lights and any other color could result in a fine of up to $200. Kamholz only received a warning from the State Trooper but she wanted to take a photo of his car which resulted in a ton of publicity all over social media.
