ROCKFORD — Are you doing a little spring cleaning around your house? Maybe you’re getting rid of some that clutter in your attic or basement. Maybe you’re trying to get rid of that old rocking chair from 1994. Whatever it is, bring those old items that you aren’t using anymore to Goodwill Northern Illinois‘ Earth Day Donation Drive event.

Drop off your donations at the two-day Earth Day Donation Drive event Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at the future location of the newest Goodwill at 3068 McFarland Road.

Here are some of the items Goodwill is looking for:

  • Gently used clothing
  • Furniture
  • Household items
  • Sporting goods

“There’s a few things we don’t take. We don’t take TVs, we don’t take – this is something some people don’t know – we don’t take baby items like the bigger items, like cribs, strollers, car seats, because of recalls,” Shannon Harper, senior public relations and marketing manager for Goodwill Northern Illinois, said on an interview with the B103 Morning Routine.

Goodwill Northern Illinois‘ goal of its two-day Earth Day Donation Drive is to keep these items out of our landfills. The sale of your items in Goodwill’s retail stores fund vital programs in our community that create jobs. Also, if you bring your donations on either one of those days, you’ll receive a 20% off coupon good to use at any of their Goodwill locations that weekend. Plus, bring your donations out for a chance to win his and hers Schwinn bikes.
