ROCKFORD — The Labor Day Parade in Rockford is canceled this year, but don’t let that stop you from heading out in the Stateline for some warm weather fun this weekend.

Since the parade was called off on Tuesday, here are a few different activities and events you can check out here in the greater Rockford area.

Ski Broncs Water Ski Show

Kickoff your Labor Day weekend on Friday night with the Ski Broncs’ last show of the season, starting at 6:30 p.m. This summer they made the Top 5 at nationals and added 22 brand new skiers. While you’re at Shorewood Park in Loves Park watching the Ski Broncs Water Ski Show, you can also play at the all-new Shorewood Park Disc Golf 9-hole course.

Working Paddy Party

The Irish Marching Society is hosting a charity fundraiser celebration from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Labor Day called the “Working Paddy Party,” which will be held at the Rockford City Market Pavilion.

This halfway to St. Patrick’s Day party will have a live stage of Irish entertainment, Celtic merchandise, food trucks, and beverages from Prairie Street Brewing Co.

It costs $5 per adult to get in and proceeds will go toward helping the Irish Marching Society continue to bring Irish cultural enrichment to the area.

Labor Day Car Show

Are you a fan of classic antique cars? This might be right up your alley. Rockford United Labor is hosting a Labor Day Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday. The event is free to attend. There will also be food and beverages available for purchase as well as a live DJ.

Have a classic car you want to show off? Bring it to Davis Park on Labor Day. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the cost is $20 per vehicle. All proceeds will benefit the United Way of Rock River Valley.

Originally, there was a picnic scheduled, but it was canceled due to COVID concerns.
