ROCKFORD — Basketball teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota are set to fill the UW Health Sports Factory and Keith Country Day School on Saturday for the first Midwest Winter Roundball Tourney.
GoRockford, the Rockford Park District and Hallstrom FIRE Basketball said 34 teams are expected at the daylong tournament. Teams are comprised of male and female players, ages 12-18. Many of the players are homeschooled students.
“I’m so excited to be working alongside the UW Health Sports Factory and collaborating with Ken McBee of Hallstrom F.I.R.E. Basketball — he has been an absolute pleasure to work with,” Kara Davis, GoRockford senior sales manager, said in a statement. “His dedication and passion for bringing this tournament to life have been inspiring. I’m confident this tournament will be a huge success.”

The tournament is expected to bring more than 500 spectators and generate an economic impact of $193,933, according to estimates provided by GoRockford.
An additional tournament with Hallstrom FIRE Basketball is set for Feb. 22 and will bring in an additional $108,178 in estimated economic impact.
The first Midwest Winter Roundball Tourney takes place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison St., in downtown and Keith Country Day School, 1 Jacoby Place, Rockford.
