The Festival of Lights opening night was last week and the number of cars that drove through blew previous numbers out of the water. Matt and Chelsea from the Morning Routine on B103 had a chance to catch up with Ted O’ Donnell who puts this light display together every year and he said 14,000 cars came to the Festival of Lights over the weekend.

The Festival of Lights started in 1989 with only 11 light displays and now there are over 80! This is the original socially distanced event that has taken place at Sinnissippi Park for 31 years. To make this a better experience for everyone, if you plan on heading out to the Festival of Lights this weekend, make sure you dim your headlights on your car.

Also, to make it bigger and brighter every year, they are accepting monetary donations. In the middle of the park, Santa, Sponsored by Wheels By R.T., will be waving hello to your kiddos as you drive by. But the big guy in red won’t be there all night, his reindeer drop him off at 7 pm and pick him back up in the sleigh around 9 pm.

This event is held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5 pm until 11 pm.
