Every Cubs fan expected a lot of changes for the coming season. Theo Epstein walking away a year early came as a bit of a surprise. Kyle Schwarber and Albert Almora Jr. landing in the free agent pool, sad but not shocking. Len Kasper leaving the TV booth for White Sox radio? Easily the most shocking move of all.

For the last 16 years Len Kasper has been the voice of the Chicago Cubs. No matter what network carried the game, Cubs fans knew that one of the best in the business would be there to walk them through it.  Kasper is so well respected there were several time he’s was even given the opportunity to call the games Fox picked up for national broadcasts.

The news that is coming out today brings that era to an end. Len Kasper is reportedly out of the booth at the Cubs’ Marquee Network and will doing radio play-by-play for the White Sox on their new flagship station, Chicago’s ESPN 1000.

Chris Myers, who is a part of the Marquee Network and you may also know from calling NFL games on Fox, is reportedly the one set to replace Kasper in the booth for the Cubs next season. Jim Deshaies is expected to remain as color analyst along side Myers, but the way this off season is going, who knows? It wouldn’t be a shock at all to see a former Cub like Ryan Dempster or possibly Kerry Wood in that position at some point soon.
