There are a ton of people who go scuba diving but have you ever heard of a 99-year-old scuba diver?! Well, now you have.

Bill Lambert of Rockford decided at 98 years young that he wanted to learn how to scuba dive. Recently, he has been living at Bickford Independent nursing home in Rockford and if he leaves, he has to go through 14 days of quarantine.

He rides his elliptical bicycle almost every day for 45 minutes to keep his strength up.”Bill used to come in once a week for therapy and to train,” says Captain Dan of Loves Park Scuba. “Because of the Pandemic, the nursing home currently won’t let him out to train but hopefully he’ll be released soon.”

At 98 years young, Bill Lambert broke the scuba diving record as the oldest diver in the world in Cozumel, Mexico. He broke his record again on his 99th birthday on September 5th, 2019 at Pearl Lake in South Beloit.

Even though things have been a little different this year, Bill dreams of scuba diving at 100 years old and breaking a new World Record. This September 5th Bill hopes to be joining the Loves Park Scuba dive team in Bonaire, Caribbean Netherlands which is part of the ABC islands. Bonaire is known around the world as a premier location for the clear warm water and shore diving capital of the world. This will also be his 100th birthday celebration.

Anyone can attend the Loves Park Scuba Dive Trip to Bonaire. They are already half full so call Captain Dan at 815-633-6969 to reserve your spot.
