As Illinois starts opening up for phase 4,  Midway Village has decided to offer a mini-camp series called History’s Mysteries which is geared towards children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

This will be a two-hour experience where your kids can learn history lessons specifically made for their age while also developing social skills in a new environment.

History’s Mysteries Mini-Camps will also give take-home projects so you can strengthen what your child has learned in the morning and help them appreciate our rich history. This will be a fun 2-hour learning experience that will begin July and go through August.

History’s Mysteries Mini-Camps will be held every Tuesday morning in the Victorian Village. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a 10 child limit and all mini-camps will be held outside under a tent.

Program leaders will undergo daily health and temperature checks as well as wearing masks.

You may also register for these other mini-camps listed below.

Register for each mini-camp Themes For Each Tuesday:

July 7 Crime Solvers: In this program, children will learn criminal investigation techniques just like a Victorian crime solver.
July 14 Village Artists: Staff will be recreating some famous works of art and also letting imaginations run wild to create great works of art.
July 21 Folklore: Children will come listen, reenact and share traditional Folklore from across the centuries and across the world.
July 28 History Explorers: By looking at different cultures, children will explore far-off places from the safety of our Victorian Village.
August 4 Going Green: Learn how your child can be a part of Midway’s Green Team by learning about how Victorians recycled in the past and what you can do today.
August 11 Dirty Jobs: Children will roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty with some of the jobs of the Victorians of the past.
