Here are today’s Nerd News headlines:

  • That’s So 2017: The New Mutants hits HBO Max this month. Since this is an X-Men spinoff, your first thought may be, “But why isn’t it on Disney+, don’t they own the world?” They do, but this project was part of a pre-existing contract that apparently wasn’t a part of the big buyout. In fact, it has been finished since 2017, but Fox wanted to up the scare factor of the horror-sci-fi flick. So, watch out for more scares… and some outdated references.
  • By The 3rd One, They’re Gonna Figure Out You Have A Knife: Looks like there’s going to be a sequel to Knives Out. Netflix paid $450 million for the rights to produce Knives Out 2 … and Knives Out 3. Who knows, maybe some other cutlery will get the spotlight in these other two. Although they may be short on budget after paying that much.  This is one of the biggest deals ever made for the rights to a movie series.
  • One Last Performance: Unfortunately, actress Naya Rivera passed away in July 0f 2020. However, she did complete her role as Catwoman/Selina Kyle last summer, so we will get to at least hear her in the new animated Batman feature: “Batman: The Long Halloween.” The feature will also star Jensen Ackles as the voice of Batman. Ackles played Robin and Redhood in “Batman: Under the Red Hood”
