Here are today’s Nerd News! headlines:

A World Away: Super Nintendo World is opening on February 4th. There’s gonna be a Mario Kart roller coaster where you get to wear a VR helmet that looks like Mario’s hat, and there will be a Donkey Kong Country section. Sounds fun, but the problem is, it’s opening in Japan. So you’ll have to go to Osaka Japan’s Universal Studios park to enjoy it. Long trip but, maybe worth it? Read this.

Crew Dues: Earlier this month I told you about some rumors that Epic games was going to roll out a subscription plan for Fortnite. The rumors are apparently true because Fortnite Crew is about to launch. It’ll be 11.99 a month, you get access to battle pass and a thousand V bucks and a crew outfit… which refreshes every month. A thousand V bucks usually go for about 7.99 a pop if that gives you a point of reference.  Story here.

Prankslinger: A news station in the state of Oregon has an Out and About segment where viewers send them pictures they take of the outdoors in that area. And a proud mother announced on social media that her daughters photo had been selected for the segment… but little did she know that the picture was actually a landscape shot from the video game Red Dead redemption 2.. Hilarious.. and what makes that even better is that this was the second time she pulled off the prank. Well done.  More here.
