The Country community lost another legend this week with the passing of Country Music Hall of Famer, Charley Pride, at the age of 86 – reportedly from complications due to COVID-19. His song “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” launched him to superstardom in the 70’s & 80’s, selling millions of records and landing another 50+ songs in the Top 10 of the Billboard Charts (30 of them going #1). Charley was the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame (inducted in 2000), CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1971 and the 2020 recipient of the CMA’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, their highest honor.

@jimmieallen: sometimes we will never understand why certain things happen. Through the pain we fight to hold onto the memories that were made. Do I always agree with things God allows to take place ….. hell no, but I trust through eh pain of loss that he has a plan of healing and unity. Today is rough.

@bradpaisley: The most generous, kind, trailblazing man has left us. I met Charley Pride when I was 15. He gave his home phone number to my dad, and said “I’d love to help your son.” And help he did. I am so blessed to have had so many memories with him. I’m devastated. You changed country music for the better, Charley. And you changed this kid’s life. We love you. #charleypride
