THE WINNEBAGO COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE WILL BE EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR PROPERTY TAXES TO MONDAY, JUNE 22nd, 2020

The Winnebago County Treasurer Susan Goral’s office will be open on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm to receive payments of real estate property taxes due on that date.

Although the Treasurer’s office will be open on June 19th until 7:00 pm, the Treasurer encourages taxpayers to mail their payments on or before the June 19th due date. (Postmarks are accepted) Taxpayers may also utilize any of the participating local banks or credit unions to pay their taxes as well. A list of the participating facilities was included with the mailed tax bills.

Taxpayers can also visit the website: www.winnebagotreasurer.com to make their payments by check or credit card. Payments can also be made by calling Paymentus at 1-855-385-1174. A 2.29% convenience fee will be charged by Paymentus. (A $2.95 fee will be charged for those wanting to pay with a Visa Debit Card) No Fee will be charged by online check through the Illinois Bank and Trust link on the Treasurer’s home page.

This year, there is also a white “mailbox” drop box for payments in front of the Treasurer’s building so that taxpayers do not have to come inside or wait in line. The box is checked several times a day and the Treasurer’s office wants to assure their customers that the box is safe for their payment. Partial payments can be made, but must be paid in full by October 23, 2020 to avoid the annual tax sale.

First installments or the balance of any parital payments that have not been paid by the June 19th due date will incur a penalty of 1.5% per month and cannot be paid at local banks; Taxpayers should call the Treasurer’s office at (815) 319-4400 for the correct amount due prior to mailing payments afer the June 19th due date.

If you did not receive a tax bill this year, and you have not changed your address at the Treasuer’s Office, please call (815) 319-4400 to make arrangements to have a form sent to you, or go to the Treasurer’s website and print out a change form. Changing your address at the post office will NOT change your mailing address for tax bills.
