Here are today’s Nerd News! headlines:

NBC/Universal are upping the ante on their streaming platform Peacock. Starting  next year, “all projects from Universal Filmed Entertainment Group” will stream on Peacock four months after they come out in theaters. This would go for movies from Focus, Illumination, and DreamWorks Animation, and big blockbuster films like “Jurassic Park: Dominion,” “The Bad Guys,” and Jordan Peele’s next original film.

Game developers Ubisoft made a statement reporting that the next Assassin’s Creed title is in development. There is talk that the game will venture into other avenues besides just the game, with rumors about a Fortnite style multiplayer in the works as well.  The online multilplayer universe would also expand and change over time much like the Grand Theft Auto online and Red Dead online worlds. Still, for now, all just talk.

And today, July 8th, is National Video Game Day. It’s a day to maybe dust off that old console or maybe visit an arcade that has a lot of classic cabinets and celebrate the history of the wonderful world of gaming. For me, it would go back as far as titles like the original Legend of Zelda on the original NES console. Or even old floppy disc games like King’s Quest or Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. .. So if your significant other is giving you grief for playing too much… tell them to sit down, grab a controller and celebrate. Cause it’s a holiday.
