MACHESNEY PARK – Construction work has begun on a major thoroughfare in the village.

A roughly 1-mile stretch of Harlem Road between North Second Street and Amber Drive will undergo patching, resurfacing and have new sidewalks built. The $4.2 million project is being handled by Rock Road Companies.

Harlem Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction throughout construction, and there will be periodic side street closures as well. Businesses in the area will remain open throughout construction, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
