LOVES PARK — A new hotel that caters to extended-stay guests is coming to Galleria Drive near Interstate 90.

A four-story, 122-room WoodSpring Suites is planned for 4101 Galleria Drive. Construction on the 48,660-square-foot hotel is expected to begin in March with completion by late 2024 or early 2025, according to Guy Pisani, development manager for Holladay Properties.

Pisani said guests at WoodSpring Suites could be both short-term visitors, such as families who come in to Mercyhealth SportsCore Two for soccer and lacrosse tournaments, or those on extended stays such as contractors on construction projects and families who need to be near a loved one at Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside.

“These studios have full kitchenettes, so a long-term guest is who typically sees a lot of benefit from our hotel,” Pisani said. “It’s really meant for longer-term guests, but we cater to one or two nights as well.”

WoodSpring Suites is the fourth hotel to be built in the corridor near Interstate 90. It will be adjacent to the Home2Suites by Hilton. The area is also home to Holiday Inn Express and Quality Inn.

“I think they’re going to be a good addition to the city of Loves Park,” Mayor Greg Jury said.

The hotel is part of what has been a growth corridor for Loves Park, which added Costco to the area in 2019 and has had multiple new quick-service restaurants in the past five years. Chiptole and Starbucks opened in 2021, Tom & Jerry’s and Lino’s carryout space opened in 2023, an Arby’s is planned for the area and Buona Beef and The Original Rainbow Cone, two family-owned chains that are staples in Chicagoland, are under construction now.

“I still think it has to do with the way we treat people when they come in here. We’re pro-business, we don’t make it hard for them. We encourage them to work with us and we work with them,” Jury said. “I tell everybody the only red tape they’re going to have is when they cut the ribbon.”
