The Bowtruss Room at Indoor City Market will be transformed with the sounds, sights and tastes of India to help support Womanspace and Jhoole in “Empowering Women to Transform Communities.”

Enjoy the wonders of India through a buffet dinner, cash bar, music, dance, henna, yoga, massage, palmistry and artistry, a selfie in a beautiful saree and a name written in an Indian language, all while celebrating the Indian Festival of Lights, Diwali.

Proceeds from the event help support Womanspace, a not-for-profit organization that provides programs for women, men and children to enhance body, mind and spirit through creative arts, holistic health and interfaith exploration. The seven-acre campus offers a variety of special interest programs, art classes, a studio, a gallery, beautiful gardens and labyrinth.

Proceeds also support Jhoole, a non-profit social enterprise, fair trade cooperative employing women in Maheshwar, India, that has trained over 500 women in garment manufacturing, employs 50 women full time in a centralized facility and supports over 50 artisans who work from home. This economic independence and investment in education creates the lasting, systemic change necessary to ultimately break the cycle of poverty.
