ROCKFORD — See a variety of amazing hawks, owls, eagles, tortoises, rabbits, snakes and even pelicans at “Hoo” Haven’s upcoming open house.

The wildlife rehabilitation and education center treats all North American wildlife with the exception of skunks, raccoons and bats.  

Volunteers at “Hoo” Haven, 10823 Cleveland Road, Durand, will offer tours and share the wonderful educational opportunities that are available through the facility on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Everyone is invited from noon until 3 p.m. to learn about Hoo Haven, wildlife, local conservation efforts and to show their support for this much-needed community service.

Tours will include the area’s only U.S. Fish and Wildlife Eagle Recovery Center and Aquatic Animal Recovery Center.  Visitors can learn about on-site solar energy and visit the area’s only “Wildlife Tracking Plot.”

All ages are welcome and a variety of food and gift items will be available for purchase with 100% of funds going directly to the care and feeding of all the wildlife.

A donation “wish list” is posted on the website, but the wildlife accepts frozen meat, and nuts in the shell, which are always much needed to feed them. Other fun events during the open house include free tours, kid’s activities, and live music.
