ROCKFORD — A new smash burger food truck is making its way to the Stateline, offering Midwest comfort food combined with plant-based and gluten-free alternatives.
Sizz N Fizz is hosting its grand-opening Tuesday in the south parking lot of Prairie Street Brewing Co.
Representatives for Sizz N Fizz, Reed Sjostrom and Josh Tourville, said the food truck wants to serve classic American cuisine and dietary alternatives that taste just as good as the regular option.
“We didn’t want to exclude the plant-based community,” Tourville said in an interview with the B103 Morning Routine. “The main goal, the driving force, there was to make a plant-based burger that we also enjoyed, people that aren’t solely plant-based.”
After a soft launch last week, the new smash burger food truck felt prepared to introduce Sizz N Fizz to Rockford.

“The cheese curds were the best I’ve ever had,” said 17-year-old Madeline Seuring, who attended the soft launch. “Honestly the burger was a 10 out of 10.”
The menu includes smash burgers with plant-based and gluten-free bun options available. There are also fries, chicken nuggets, waffle fries, cheese curds, drink options and original sauces.
The goal for the menu was to be recognizable to customers, giving plenty of identifiable options.
“Sizz N Fizz is supposed to be familiar,” Tourville said. “It’s a food truck that will be appealing to all audiences.”
