ROCKFORD — Synergy Collective is preparing to open this weekend in a new home where, fittingly, its owner sees a lot of synergy with their new neighbors.

The boho boutique, lifestyle and wellness business will have its grand reopening Saturday at 1625 N. Alpine Road inside Edgebrook Shopping Center. It fills the former Wonderland Books & Toys space, which closed about a decade ago.

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Synergy Collective, which started in 2019 as a Rockford City Market vendor before opening its first brick-and-mortar store at 11361 Main St. in Roscoe in March 2022. The Roscoe location closed in December in preparation for the move to Edgebrook.

“We really love the community here at Edgebrook, there’s so many other complementing businesses,” said Stephanie Mains, owner of Synergy Collective. “It feels like a coming home of sorts because we started in Rockford, a lot of our people are here and they would make special trips up to Roscoe for us. It feels good to be coming back to Rockford.”

Synergy Collective is a collection of various aspects of spiritual wellness as well as home decor, jewelry, healing crystals, handmade clothing, plants, candles, music bowls, macrame and metaphysical tools. It also offers creative workshops and classes on using divination tools and other spiritual items and has introductory classes for people just learning about the various practices.

“We are excited to welcome Synergy Collective to Edgebrook and to the continued growth that is taking place here. They are a celebration of local entrepreneurship and community spirit,” said Sandy Dingus, marketing and events coordinator for Orput Companies, which owns Edgebrook. “As we embrace this new venture, it is a reminder of that our mall truly is a unique blend of boutique shops, excellent restaurants, convenient service-oriented businesses and seasonal events. Where there is something for everyone.”

Mains said they fit in well with other businesses like Avalon Bodyworks, B Jones, Eurostyle+, Roxy Carmichael and the soon-to-open Sattva Yoga Spa, which was formerly 815 Yoga.

“It’s like a little revival is happening,” Mains said. “Nothing is set in stone, but I have a feeling we’ll have some collaborations on events in the future.”
