To celebrate National Donut Days this year, The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is hosting a Donut Eating Contest on Friday, June 7th from 8:30 am – 9:00 am at The Salvation Army Family Store located at 7150 N. Cherryvale Mall Drive, Rockford. Funds raised will help cure hunger in Winnebago County through food pantry services and meal distribution for the homeless through Friday Night Patrol.
Contestants are currently raising funds online at www.salarmyrockford.org/donuts in order to win the “People’s Choice” award, and will compete for the “Donut Eating Champion” and “Best $Dough$” awards at the day of the event. Votes are based on the amount of money donated either online or raised onsite in the red counter kettles in front of the contestants.
Help 95.3 The Bull’s Gordon Mays beat sister station rival, Lori Williams from 104.9 The X, in their friendly competition against Major Mark Martsolf, Winnebago County Coordinator! The public is invited to cheer on their favorite contestant and to cast their votes for the best donut eater by donating to the red counter kettles. The Salvation Army mobile canteen will be serving free donuts, water, and coffee to all in attendance.
